Advertising can help support the cost of operating Village Codes. Commercial content is kept separate from the administrative data and editorial explanations on the site.

Editorial independence

Advertisers do not choose LGD codes, change administrative relationships, approve corrections or determine how government data is described.

Ad identification

Advertisements or sponsored material should be presented in a way that makes their commercial nature reasonably clear. An advertisement should not be styled to look like an official LGD record or government notice.

Placement and user experience

We aim to avoid ad placements that hide essential page information, interfere with navigation or make it difficult to distinguish directory content from commercial content.
