Village Codes is an independent information website. It is not an official website of the Government of India, any State or Union Territory government, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, India Post, the Census of India or a local government body.

Public-data reference

The website reorganises published administrative data to make codes and relationships easier to find. We do not issue LGD codes, determine administrative boundaries or certify government records.

Accuracy and timing

We take care to preserve the source data used for each site snapshot, but government records may later be revised and source datasets can contain missing or inconsistent information. The snapshot date shown on the site tells you which data release the pages were built from.

Official use

For certificates, applications, legal proceedings, land matters, financial decisions, government submissions or any situation requiring an authoritative record, verify the information with the Local Government Directory or the relevant government authority.

Census and PIN information

Census codes and PIN codes are supporting references from different systems. Their presence on a village page does not convert them into an LGD code or prove that a postal area exactly matches an administrative boundary.
