Editorial and Data Policy

Village Codes publishes factual reference pages about LGD village and administrative codes in India. Our editorial approach is source-first: the page should help a reader understand the available record without adding unsupported claims.

Source-first publishing

Current LGD records, historical Census references and postal PIN information are kept as separate concepts. We do not rewrite one identifier to look like another or infer a missing administrative relationship from a similar place name.

Plain Indian English

Explanations are written in clear Indian English for general readers. Technical terms such as LGD, district, sub-district, development block and Panchayat are used when they are needed, and are explained in context.

Fact-based page summaries

Directory introductions use the actual facts available for each entity, such as its name, code, administrative location, village count or mappings. We do not add invented history, population, geography, ratings or local descriptions.

Handling incomplete records

A short source record is not padded with generic claims. Where useful supporting facts are available, they are shown. Where they are not, the page remains limited to verifiable information rather than being padded with generic text.

Independence

Village Codes is not an official government website. Advertising or commercial relationships, if present, do not determine LGD codes, administrative mappings, corrections or editorial wording.

Corrections and accountability

Reported issues are reviewed against the relevant source data. We distinguish between a source-data issue and a website presentation issue, and we correct our own presentation when it is wrong.
